WiFi issues Empty WiFi issues

Post  markrubi Mon Jan 07, 2013 3:21 pm

I own 8 self installed Nest thermostats and have continuing drop out of thermostats:

I have:

changed router (now use Asus router with Ubiquity WAP's)
changed encryption to WPA2
checked signal strength to each Nest (over 50)
checked for IP conflict

I am frustrated: I have a stable WiFi system but I see 1 or 2 Nest thermostats loose communications daily: when I go to the thermostat it shows they are connected but the web screen shows a ? If I change temp setting on the Nest it usually restores the connection

what am I missing?

TIA

WiFi issues Empty problems also

Having similar drop-out issues and my range extender sits 10 feet from the Nest. Also, cant get Nest to give me an entry key. Ive been on phone with their support twice now and nothing worked. I have Comcast and they think its an issue with a blocked port 80/443 but I'm not so sure. Would be interested if anyone else has this problem.

WiFi issues Empty Really unhappy

Post  JP Wed Feb 20, 2013 9:42 pm

I have used the 1st generation nest successfully for months. (In fact, I ordered mine on the second wave after the 1st group sold out.). I have not changed any network hardware and it is not working.

Everything worked fine except the last couple of weeks. Now I just get the "?" when I try to look at the nest via the iPhone/iPad.

All other devices work fine on my network. After contacting CS who wanted me to disconnect the common wire and record the voltages etc. for 24 hours. They said it was my router. I am not a computer/network tech - but this seems to defy logic.

I am afraid to download new firmware for the router (i am not sure there is even new firmware for it) as they recommend because I am afraid to mess my network up.
