Respond to real-time electricty prices
I live in the Chicago area, and like many throughout the country, pay for electricity based on real-time rates, which vary hourly based on supply/demand. In general, I'd like to run the AC more when the price of electricity is lower, and less when the price is higher. I'd like the Nest to be able to respond to the current price. This would require the Nest software to access the current electricity price, which is available from pjm (the regional transmission organization, i.e., RTO, that supplies electricity to 60 million people in the midwest and east coast), and then respond accordingly. Ideally, Nest would let me set up my own algorithm based on current temp, outside temp, time of day, and price, but I'd settle for something simpler to start. For example, don't run the AC anytime the price is greater than $0.15/kilowatt...obviously, this setpoint would need to be user determined. Or slightly more complicated, a setpoint that varies by time of day. Thanks.

agreed this should be present in a tstat that costs 250$
other smart tstats have similar functions
it does it by using the zigbee chip
which the nest gen1 and gen2 both have
they are just unused
