Show me the temperature

Post  ryanbuck on Sat Feb 18, 2012 11:26 am

I'd like to see a feature where the thermostat shows me the temperature. This sounds crazy right? On the Nest you are shown the "set to" temperature and an indication of whether the system is heating or cooling in order to get there. The ACTUAL temperature is very small and sits on a dial relative to your "set to" temp. Similarly on the remote interfaces, you don't see the ACTUAL temperature unless you tap/click on the device. Then the interface changes so you can see the ACTUAL temperature in tiny font on the dial

I'd like to see an option where you can leave the display on so you can glance at the thermostat and see the temperature at any time.

Isn't it a little backward?

I agree. When I look at my Nest, I know already the temperature I set it at. What I'm really interested in each time I walk by is how warm it currently is in the house. Showing me the temperature I selected is a little backward IMHO...

Alternating between set and actual every couple seconds would be ideal for me.

Yes +1
I'd also like to see the Temp/ Humidity/ Home-Away Status immediately upon opening the iPhone app too

There is no reason Nest couldn't allow the user to customize the main Nest screen. Current temperature, humidity and even local outside temperature via the Internet would be nice for me. A drag and drop screen could be created on the Nest website to create the information screen you want for your home.

I second this
i want to see the current temp

but i do see away of doing both

when turning the dial
show the set temp so its easy to see
then when it times out, say 5 seconds
flip it arround and show the current temp

+1 to showing the current temp. I already know what I set it to.
